Friends of the Shakers Spring Work DayThe Friends of the Shakers invites members and the public to join their Spring Work Day, on Saturday, May 16, to help the Sabbathday Lake Shakers and Shaker Museum by readying the Village for opening day.

The Friends of the Shakers, a non-profit support organization, holds multiple work days at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village. You’ll spend the day working at various assignments suitable for all ages and abilities. Work days bring chores, but fellowship as well.

Everyone shares the noon meal, conversation, and laughter. Please bring a potluck side dish or dessert to share.

Members and volunteers will help ready the Village for visitors by sweeping away the winter sand, cleaning out the hay barn, helping in the herb department, prepping the Shakers’ gardens, clearing brush, and so much more!

Chores start at 9 am and last until 3 pm, rain or shine. Limited space is available for the public and pre-registration is required. Register online by clicking here or call 926-4594.

You are welcome to arrive at any time and stay for as long as you are able to.

There will be a sign-in table located at the back of the Brick Dwelling House and a task list to choose from at sign-in. All tools will be supplied but if you have a favorite pair of work gloves, feel free to wear them!
