Create & Carry ‘Bag-ette’ Yarn Weaving Kits by Susy Perrine

$44.00

Learn to weave a fun “bag-ette” with this all-in-one kit by fiber artist Susy Perrine of Woolwich, ME.

Using simple techniques you will weave in the round to create a handy small bag, big enough to carry your keys and phone, passport, or other treasure. Susy’s handspun and dyed yarn (GORGEOUS by the way!) is extra-bulky and will weave up quickly. Finish by adding the enclosed shoulder strap, felted closure flap, and button. Cotton calico fabric will be included if you wish to add a lining.

Your finished little bag will measure about 4.5″ wide x 5.5″ tall.

Included in this full kit are: 60″ cord for handle, large eye needle, thread, metal binder clip, rubber band, felt closure flap, fabric lining, and a 4.25″ x 12″ board loom, and handspun bulk yarn.  All colors within each kit coordinate (yarn, felt, cotton, thread, and button.) See photos and drop down menu for color availability.

Skills: Beginner, some sewing skills required.

Susy is a creative weaver living in Woolwich, Maine.  She uses a variety of looms and materials, learning and sharing with others the rich history of textile making. She teaches workshops with us here at Shaker Village in weaving, fiber arts, and trellis building– her other favorite type of weaving!

Susy constructs introspective textiles ranging from handheld, wearable to inhabitable. She studied art at the University of Southern Maine and, for several years, was weaving for Carol Schwartzott, creating a line of textiles that were sold in galleries across the country. Susy was a production weaver for Amy Putansu. She’s worked on large industrial looms including water powered Jacquard and electric powered Dobby looms. She has restored and assembled several barn frame looms.
