10am-3pm
Join us for some hands-on learning in the historic Shaker Herb Garden. You’ll tour the gardens (see, touch, taste, & smell!), learn about medicinal and culinary uses of the herbs we grow, and harvest & prepare the herbs for drying.
Put your new herbal skills to use by blending your own herbal tea right in the garden and even take some home to share.
We’ll work on team-building and connecting by harvesting a row of herbs together, side-by-side with Shaker Village’s Head Gardner, Tyler Credit. We’ll process the herbs to be put up in the drying attic just like the Shakers have been doing since 1783! This always involved plenty of laughter and learning as new friends are made.
End the day by visiting with the farm animals.
Please wear clothes and shoes that can get garden-dirty and wear a sun-hat. Bring a bagged lunch. Sunscreen & bug spray will be provided.
This event is family-friendly and open to all ages & abilities. Please pre-register below, if you can, so that we can plan to have enough supplies available for everyone.
This is the second in a series of free garden lunch & learn workshops.
