On-Site
In this class we will learn how to create a wall mounted needle felted deer head with local artist Gabrielle Stratmann of Bug-eyed Co!
Needle felting is the process of tangling wool fibers through repeatedly stabbing wool with a small barbed needle. We will learn the technique of sculpting and layering to create the details needed to create each part of the deer head including the funky antlers! We will then complete the project by securely mounting the deer head to a wood slice so that your deer will hang on the wall.
Oh Deer! is inspired by its real life taxidermy counter part, except no cute animals were harmed in the making of these miniatures.
Felting is a fun, meditative fiber art perfect for creating animals, miniatures, and ornaments.
All supplies are provided, included Gaby’s complete Oh Deer! Felted Taxidermy Kit. This kit includes a foam felting block, needles, wool, and complete guidebook.
Perfect for Beginners and above.
Gabrielle Jolie Stratmann infuses her whimsical sense of humor into distinct illustrations depicting snails, bugs, and animals. She loves to spend hours outdoors in her favorite state, Maine, observing little creatures in their natural worlds. Gabrielle enjoys creating with all different mediums from watercolor to embroidery.
