In the early 19th century, the Shakers produced many of their own books using simple bookbinding techniques.
Learn the timeless craft of handmade bookbinding and create your own personal journal in this hands-on workshop! Whether you’re a writer, artist, or journal enthusiast, this class will guide you through the process of designing and assembling a one-of-a-kind book using traditional
bookbinding techniques. You’ll learn the basics of bookbinding tools and materials, how to fold, sew, and bind pages by hand to create a durable and flexible spine.
You’ll leave with a beautiful, hand-bound journal perfect for sketching, writing, or personal reflections. Choose from a variety of cover materials, including gel-prints or decorative paper, to make your book uniquely yours! You will have the option to add pockets, ribbon bookmarks or other custom embellishments.
Artist and instructor Bonnie Faulkner has been journaling for over 45 years and makes each journal unique.
All materials are provided. If you have some special paper or collage items feel free to bring them along.
