Shake off the winter doldrums with a foot tapping, hands-clapping good-time in the place just right, where there are no bad seats or strangers!
Don’t miss this special afternoon of contemporary and traditional acoustic folk music performed by one of the region’s most dynamic ensembles. YARD SAUCE features Chris Moore (mandolins & vocals), Jeff Christmas (guitar & vocals), Mitch Reed (fiddle & vocals).
YARD SAUCE will premiere songs from Chris’ new solo record “Changing Union” – including original compositions, co-writes (with Joe K. Walsh and Maine poet Stuart Kestenbaum) and interpretations of several traditional Shaker tunes. YARD SAUCE has quickly developed a devoted following for their live shows, which bring to life the group’s eclectic and voracious appetite for stylistic adventure, delivered with emotional authenticity, powerful singing, and instrumental mastery. Audiences can look forward to a smile-inducing and meaningful range of folk (including Shaker tunes), country, bluegrass, and blues styles spanning the Americas and beyond!
YARD SAUCE is an acoustic, folk, and Americana Maine-based trio. Their live concerts draw from the group’s eclectic musical tastes, diverse regional folk music influences, and a deep catalog of original songs.
Singer/songwriter and classically-trained vocalist Jeff Christmas (guitar and vocals) hails from North Carolina and teaches music at Bowdoin College; Mitch Reed (fiddle) adds strong Cajun and Creole flavors from his home state of Louisiana – he played with the premier Cajun band Beausoleil for 10 years, and; Chris Moore’s (mandolins and vocals) country, bluegrass, and folk sensibilities are shaped by his upbringing in rural Maine and 10 years in Nashville. Chris has also been a lifelong student of traditional Shaker music and their concert will feature several selections from the Shaker’s vast repertoire.
Join the Shakers and the members of Yard Sauce for an exclusive evening concert in the Brick Dwelling House Chapel, an intimate setting with superb acoustics for music and vocals, where the Shakers have gathered in worship and song for 140 years.
Proceeds of this concert benefit the ongoing historic preservation of the Herb House Cultural Center.
The Herb House project aims to create a communal space for people to share traditional arts within the only active Shaker community in the world.
