Shaker Herb House Lift is Scheduled Thursday, May 23 at 10am Crews were busy all day today preparing the Herb House for its lift on Thursday, May 23rd at 10am. The public is invited to watch as the 200-year-old Herb House is lifted from its original granite foundation. Light refreshments will be served. Rain or shine. By the end of the day, the 40' by 80' timber-frame structure will be securely suspended about 12' in the air. Come see this marvel of engineering and historic preservation! IMPORTANT UPDATE: Shaker Herb House’s History-Making Lift
Important Change of Date! The Shaker Herb House will be lifted on THURSDAY, May 23rd. A time of day for the building lift will be announced early next week. Contractors continue to plan the complicated rigging necessary to install the steel understructure required to lift the 40' by 80' building. These delicate and precise steps now require an additional day of installation. Please expect a follow-up email next week to confirm a time on Thursday. We hope to see you onsite for this once-in-a-lifetime extraordinary milestone in the rehabilitation of America's only remaining Shaker Herb House. More to come soon! Thank
Shaker Herb House’s History-Making Lift
Mark your calendars! On Wednesday May 22nd the long awaited Shaker Herb House project will begin! Come watch as work crews expertly raise the 40’ by 80’ timber frame structure 12’ into the air, where it will be held on cribbing for many months ahead while preparations are made for its new foundation and future home of new incubator spaces, classrooms, and studios. Join us for this historic event! The lift will start between 7am and 8am. Early birds are welcome to attend. Refreshments, pastries, and hot and cold beverages will be served at 9am. All are welcome
