Since the 1790s, the Shakers have been inspired by many elements of the natural world.

Gelatin print making is a form of monotype printing. Instructor and artist Bonnie Faulkner will teach you how to create beautiful prints without a press using botanicals from the Shaker Herb Garden. It’s simple, versatile and addictive. This workshop is well suited for professional or novice printmakers, craft enthusiasts, or anyone with a desire to try it! The basic materials are non-toxic, and cleans up with water. All materials will be provided along with a recipe for making your own gel plate at home.  You will also go home with the gel plate that you used in class so that you can keep printing right away!

If you take the afternoon bookbinding workshop, you can use some of your gel prints to make your own books!

Class size: 10
