Shaker-Style Carrier Workshop
Saturday, August 19, 2017, 9am–4pm
From large cupboards to small boxes, the Shakers are known for their sense of design, attention to detail, and orderliness.
Join internationally-known, master cabinetmaker Chris Becksvoort for this Shaker classic. Based on the original piece made by the Mount Lebanon Shakers around the year 1840, attendees will build a white pine Shaker carrier with center handle, four dovetailed corners and a quarter sawn bottom. This is a very useful carrier for tableware, mail and bills, or to organize small items around the house and shop. Knowledge of making a dovetail is required for this workshop. Materials will be provided.
Please bring: pencil, ruler, marking gauge, knife, dovetail marker or T-bevel, square, 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2” & 3/4” chisel, mallet, dovetail saw and spokeshave. Class size: 8
