Embroidered Eco Prints Workshop
Saturday, September 16, 2017, 9am–4pm
Every Shaker girl was taught a variety of types of hand stitching, skills which they mastered by the time they were young adults.
Local instructor and fiber artist Mary DeLano will teach you how to use five or six simple embroidery stitches to accent an eco print, turning it into a lovely souvenir of the Shaker Village’s plants. Images of plants from the Village’s fields and gardens will be captured on fabric through a process known as eco printing. Students will select from eco prints made by the teacher with plants from the Village, including maple, rose, and black walnut, or take the earlier workshop to make your own Eco-Print to embroider! Students will have the opportunity to stitch with a variety of threads, including silk, wool and cotton. All materials will be supplied. Class size: 8
