Simple Bookbinding Workshop
Saturday, June 24, 2017, 1pm–4pm
In the early 19th century, the Shakers produced many of their own books using simple bookbinding techniques.
Artist and instructor Bonnie Faulkner, owner of Heron Point Gallery in Portland, will teach the art of handmade books. In this workshop you will be making three books, each with a different binding. These are simple and can be adapted to your own individual style. Using a variety of fancy papers, waxed linen and cotton cord, book boards and basic bookbinding tools, you’ll stitch, glue and fold to create these blank books to use as a journal or sketchbook or give as gifts.
If you took the morning gel printing class, you will have some gorgeous paper to use for covers! All materials are provided. Class size: 10
